At the Annual General Meeting of Surrey County Council on Tuesday, there was cross-party condemnation of Liberal Democrat misinformation during the recent local elections.
Residents' Association and Independents Councillor Jan Mason said in her address to the Council. "I have seen paperwork that have said outright lies about the county, and there is no need". The County Councillor for the West Ewell division then looked over at the Liberal Democrat group in the Council chamber and said "Grow up all of you".
Jonathan Hulley, Conservative Councillor for Foxhills, Thorpe & Virginia Water called upon the Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group to apologise to residents of North West Surrey for spreading "misinformation and falsehood".
John O'Reilly, Conservative Councillor for Hersham said "There is a difference between being economical with the actuality and a decent into outright mendacity".
